The founder of Daoism is a man named Lao Tzu in the 6th century B. C. E., during the Zhou (pronounced JO) Dynasty (the Warring States Period). This was created to help stop the fighting in Ancient China. It is the belief that if you must rule, rule as little as possible.
Why was this created?
Lao Tzu created this philosophy in order to help the rulers rule during the Warring States Period . This Philosophy is still popular today.

Lao Tzu is a great philosipher. He is said to have written the book Tao Te Ching of which there are many of his quotes (including those in these images) of which the people who follow Taoism chose to live by. Some people think that Tao Te Ching was actually written by many people over many years.
